We are back in New Haven!
Dear friend,
How has your new school year been so far?
As I mentioned in my last announcement, my family and I moved to Kyoto, Japan, in the summer of 2024 and decided to stay for a year and a half. A lot has happened in our lives since then, and I wasn't able to share updates as I had originally planned. Thank you for your patience and for staying connected with me.
Living in Kyoto was a completely new experience, even though I am originally from Japan. My daughter had a challenging time adjusting to a new culture at first, and my family and I also experienced some health difficulties during those first few months. There were certainly a lot of ups and downs.
But there was also some wonderful news.
I found out that I was pregnant shortly after we left New Haven—yes, I experienced morning sickness on the long flight to Japan! And in March 2025, we welcomed the newest member of our family.
Life has become a whole new level of crazy and messy with two little girls, but I am incredibly grateful for my family. One of the things that inspires me most is watching the love between my daughters grow.
During this time, I paused my professional photography projects, but I never stopped photographing. I worked on many personal projects, continued developing my technical skills, and dedicated time to learning in ways I had been wanting to for a long time. I even graduated from an online professional photography program.
Most importantly, though, I spent a lot of time thinking about why I do photography.
And I think I've found my answer:
Photography has the power to document the fleeting moments of parenthood and carry the feelings of those moments into the future.
That is why I want to keep creating.
And now, I have some very exciting news to share:
We are back in New Haven!
New Haven is a very special place to me. It is where I became a mom, experienced parenthood for the first time during the pandemic, thought deeply about how I wanted to live my life and what my core values were—and ultimately, where I began my photography journey.
So much of my story is connected to this city, and I am incredibly excited to return.
I have opened bookings for my Fall 2026 photography season in New Haven, and I would love to photograph your family again—or meet you and your family for the first time.
Thank you for being here and for following along through all the seasons of my life and photography journey.
I can't wait to capture your fleeting moments!
